Carriage Hills

Today we went to Carriage Hills to see some 19th century farms and stuff. I thought it was pretty cool. We were able to hike around the area, and pet some of the farm animals. When we arrived my friends and I went to see the animals first. We first saw some chickens and a really ugly bird that turned out to be a turkey.

Then we saw some horses and some pigs. The pigs' hair (fur?) felt really wiry and tough. We then took a hike through the woods and somehow managed to end up on the main road. After lunch we all went to the creek to mess around. We all tried to splash each other with rocks.

Once we got back to the school we had to do a little poem from the perspective of something from a 19th century farm. I chose a water pump. Below is my poem:

Yeehaw, I am the humble water pump, and I dispense water. Every day they wake at dawn, at the sound of the rooster’s call. They come to me with buckets, and they pump away. They pump and pump, for my life giving elixir. They use it for their cows and their sheep. They use it for their food and their clothes. Then they go to rest, so my water may replenish. Then, they do it all again the next day. This is a day in the life of a water pump.
