Today we learned about Cheryl Strayed's 1100 mile trek through the Pacific Crest Trail and how she carried all 70 pounds of equipment with her using only a backpack. Strayed lost her mother to cancer and went through a divorce, so she decided to take a hike. In order to see what it would be carrying a backpack with all the essentials in it we did a little exercise. In this exercise we had to come up with all the supplies that we would need on a multi-day hike. Luckily, I had with me an SAS survival handbook, so I had a list of all essential items needed. In the end, however, we ended up with 45 pounds of stuff. We loaded weights into a backpack and walked around a bit, to see what it would be like.

After lunch we watched a movie about some guy and some wolves. I didn't think it was very interesting.
